JSW Infrastructure, Tata Motors PV & more: Top stocks to watch on March 18, 2026

Kotak Institutional Equities reinstated its add rating on Aster DM with the target price at Rs 725. Analysts expect Aster DM, after its imminent merger with Quality Care (QCIL), to report robust numbers over FY26-FY28. Besides synergies, there are multiple other levers such as higher oncology mix, improved payor mix etc. to drive margin expansion. Backed by a strong balance sheet and a calibrated expansion of 4,342 beds until FY30, out of which 60% are brownfield, they believe the Aster DM-QCIL combo has a multi-year profitable growth runway ahead.Nuvama has a buy rating on Marico with the target price at Rs 900. Analysts attended the management meet and they feel the company’s value-added hair oil portfolio to remain strong. The management also said that its West Asia business contributes about 3–4% of the company’s consolidated revenue with no significant impact on overall revenue currently. The company also said the correction in copra prices (~35% from peak) has not been passed on yet, but a calibrated price cut is likely soon. The company also said that Bangladesh’s political landscape is now stable and growth momentum shall sustain. They also said that the ongoing West Asia tensions remain a key monitorable, as they may lead to potential raw material and packaging costs inflation.HSBC has a hold rating on Tata Motors PV with the target price cut to Rs 340 from Rs 400. Analysts said West Asia exposure and rising raw material costs have further added to the woes of JLR. Its India business benefits from strong Sierra and incremental Harrier petrol demand, though raw material inflation is a risk to margins. JLR’s recovery in the near term appears challenging.Motilal Oswal Securities has a buy rating on Hindalco with the target price at Rs 1,110. Analysts attended the management meet. They said that the management expects domestic demand (across Asia) to remain robust and outpace modest growth expectations of 2-4% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) globally, broadly driven by renewable and electrification, infra spending, packaging and auto/EV adoption. Impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia is largely limited to rising energy (coal) costs. The management noted that 75% of energy is fulfilled via coal linkages and the rest via e-auction. Thus, the rise in coal e-auction prices can increase its energy costs. As a mitigation strategy, the company targets to be 100% captive by FY33 via three captive mines, resulting in direct cost savings of about $200/tonne. The company plans to expand value-added product offerings (both copper and aluminium), with an aim to cushion the margins and to achieve higher downstream earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in India over the medium term. The company highlighted that Aditya FRP and battery enclosure facility is currently ramping up, while it is expecting the commissioning of the IGT, battery foil and AC fin.Jefferies has a buy on JSW Infrastructure with the target price at Rs 360. Analysts said JSW Infra management in recent interactions reiterated its target to double EBITDA over FY26-FY28, led by capacity additions which are on track. Logistics (5% of FY26 EBITDA) growth plans are ahead of schedule while geopolitical tensions are a near-term headwind. Analysts raised the company’s FY28 EBITDA by 10%, to reflect the optimism on project progress and estimate 29% FY26-FY30 EBITDA CAGR, led by 19% volume CAGR, where group expansion plans lend utilisation visibility.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market, other asset classes or personal finance management tips given by experts are their own. Ex-DC coach warns team over KL Rahul’s batting order ahead of IPL 2026

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is just weeks away. The first 20 matches of the tournament have been scheduled due to the Assembly Elections in India. Delhi Capitals (DC) have already started their camp for the IPL, and slowly, the players are joining the franchise for the training sessions ahead of the toughest T20 league.

Delhi Capitals started well last season won five of their first six matches under captain Axar Patel. Despite their good start, they eventually failed to qualify for the playoffs due to a collapse in the second part of the campaign, losing five out of the eight games in the second half.

KL Rahul’s batting position in doubt?

DC had been a side that went on to do a musical chair in their batting order, which was one of the reasons for their collapse in the latter half of the tournament. Ahead of the new season, former DC coach Mohammad Kaif has dropped his batting order for KL Rahul.

KL Rahul has been a batter who has been experimented with the most in all positions, which brings its own challenges, and has performed well. However, Kaif believes that the stylish batter should open the innings for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026.

I think he will open- Mohammad Kaif on KL Rahul

“I think he will open, and he should open only. He has a fabulous record as an opener. If we talk about the last three or four years, his graph, when it comes to strike rate, has gone up a lot. I feel they shouldn’t get confused,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

“The problem is that they ask KL Rahul to bat at No. 4 or do the finishing role. He should go and play his game, and as an opener. They have David Miller and Tristan Stubbs as well this time.”

“You open, and back your shots and game. A massive change was seen in his batting last year. He improved his game in the power play, and he alone won a few matches,” Kaif observed.

DC this time has a lot of options with opener as they bought Ben Duckett, Pathum Nissanka, and have the option of KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, and Karun Nair as well. With five openers, they need to sort them down quickly to have their best XI from the very start.

Delhi Capitals have strong middle order

Kaif also lauded Miller’s buy by Delhi for the upcoming season, he said it will further add balance. This time, DC has a strong middle order in terms of David Miller, Abhishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, and Ashutosh Sharma.

Kaif further said, “The biggest thing is David Miller. He will bat at No. 5 or No. 6 on that Delhi pitch, and he is in great form. So they have done two things. They have filled their squad with a lot of openers and brought in Miller.”

“Spinners were their strength from earlier, and they have a few fast bowlers as well. It’s looking like a more balanced team compared to last year.”

Iran navy chief warns of ‘deadly retaliation’ for US sub sinking its warship in Indian Ocean

Iran navy chief warns of ‘deadly retaliation’ for US sub sinking its warship in Indian Ocean
Rear Admiral Shahram Irani

The Iranian navy chief has issued a stern warning following the sinking of the country’s warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean by a US submarine on March 4, stating that the nation’s enemies will encounter “deadly retaliation” after 87 sailors were killed in the torpedo attack off the Sri Lankan coast.“We will not forget the enemy’s crime, and we will exact retribution for the blood of our martyrs,” Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, who is the commander of the Iranian conventional navy, said, referring to the sailors of the IRIS Dena, according to Iranian state broadcaster Press TV. “The enemy should know that we will punish it with deadly strikes from where it least expects,” he said. The funeral procession for the Dena martyrs would be held on Tuesday evening, and they would be laid to rest the following day, according to authorities. The official social media profiles of Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani posted a handwritten note on Tuesday, shortly after Israel said it had killed him. “The martyrdom of the brave men of the Navy of the Army of the Islamic Republic aboard the Dena is part of the sacrifices of the valiant nation that has emerged at this juncture of struggle against international oppressors,” said Larijani’s note, which was written in black ink.On March 4, IRIS Dena was attacked by a US submarine-launched MK-48 torpedo approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of Galle in Sri Lanka, while it was in international waters after participating in a multinational naval exercise MILAN in India. A total of 104 crew members died in the US submarine attack, with 87 bodies recovered and 32 sailors rescued, according to reports. US war secretary Pete Hegseth had then confirmed the strike, describing it as the first sinking of a ship by torpedo since WWII.Rear Admiral Irani said the nation was grieved by the tragedy. “Although today we mourn our loved ones, by the grace of God, we have brought the enemy to its knees,” he declared. The navy chief’s warning signals that Iran’s retaliation may extend beyond conventional battlefields, with potential operations targeting enemy assets in unexpected theaters, according to Press TV.

Pakistan airstrike on Afghanistan: 400 killed after Kabul drug rehab centre hit; Pak says military infra targeted — 10 things to know

Image/X

At least 400 people were killed and nearly 250 injured after an airstrike carried out by Pakistan struck a drug rehabilitation hospital in the Afghan capital Kabul late Monday night.Authorities in Kabul said the strike hit a large rehabilitation facility around 9 pm local time and destroyed significant portions of the 2,000-bed complex, sparking massive fires and leaving rescue workers scrambling through the rubble for survivors.

The strike was reportedly carried out under the code name Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, according to security sources. Afghan officials have accused Pakistan of striking the hospital. Islamabad insists its forces conducted precision airstrikes against militant infrastructure and military installations linked to groups it says are responsible for attacks inside Pakistan. Here are 10 things to know about the latest escalation between Pakistan and Afghanistan:

Poll

What should be the priority for Afghanistan and Pakistan to ease tensions?

Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of striking hospital in Kabul

Afghanistan’s Taliban administration said the airstrike struck a drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul, killing hundreds of people, many of whom were patients undergoing treatment at the facility.Deputy government spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat said the attack caused widespread destruction across the complex and that the number of casualties continued to rise as rescue teams searched through the debris. He said that rescue operations are currently under way. Videos circulating on social media and local television showed plumes of smoke rising from the complex as rescue teams carried out operations.Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid condemned the attack, describing it as a violation of humanitarian principles and accusing Pakistan of deliberately targeting civilian sites. Also Read | 400 killed, 250 wounded in Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul hospital, claim Taliban He said those killed and injured were mostly patients receiving treatment at the hospital and called the incident a “crime against humanity”.“We strongly condemn this crime and consider such an act to be against all accepted principles and a crime against humanity,” he wrote in a post on X.

Pakistan dismisses allegations of civilian casualties

Pakistan has denied targeting any civilian facility in Kabul, saying the airstrikes were aimed at militant infrastructure used by groups carrying out cross-border attacks against Pakistani forces and civilians, according to Dawn newspaper.Pakistan’s information minister Attaullah Tarar said the military conducted “precision airstrikes” on technical support infrastructure and ammunition storage facilities located in Kabul and eastern Afghanistan. Also Read | Watch: Flames, huge smoke columns seen after Pakistan airstrike on Kabul hospital that killed 400“All targeting has been done with precision only at those infrastructures which are being used by Afghan Taliban regime to support its multiple terror proxies,” he wrote in a post on X.According to Pakistani officials, the targeted sites were being used by militant networks allegedly supported by the Afghan Taliban to plan attacks against Pakistan.

.

.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Mosharraf Zaidi, dismissed the allegations as baseless and said no hospital was targeted in Kabul.Authorities in Islamabad also insisted the strikes were carefully planned to avoid civilian casualties and accused the Taliban administration of spreading misinformation to deflect attention from its alleged support for militant groups operating near the border, according to AFP.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq behind the latest strikes

Security sources in Pakistan said the attacks were carried out as part of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched in late February after what Islamabad described as unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban fighters from across the border.According to Pakistani officials, the operation has involved coordinated airstrikes targeting logistical infrastructure, drone assembly workshops and weapons storage facilities linked to militant groups.

Visuals shared on X

During Monday night’s strikes, Pakistani forces reportedly targeted multiple sites in Kabul as well as in Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan.Security sources said several military installations and technical support facilities used by militants were destroyed in the operation, while drone assembly workshops and weapon stockpiles were also hit, according to Dawn.

Cross-border clashes enter third week

The latest strike came hours after Afghan officials said both countries exchanged fire along their shared border, killing at least four people in Afghanistan. The clashes are part of a broader conflict that began on February 26 and has steadily intensified over the past three weeks. The confrontation began after Afghanistan launched cross-border attacks in response to earlier Pakistani airstrikes that Kabul said had killed civilians inside Afghanistan. The clashes also disrupted a ceasefire brokered by Qatar last year following earlier fighting between the two sides.Since then, both countries have exchanged artillery fire, airstrikes and drone attacks along the border, raising fears of a wider confrontation between the neighbouring nations.

Conflicting claims over casualties and attacks

Pakistan and Afghanistan have released sharply different casualty figures during the ongoing conflict.Pakistani officials say their forces have killed hundreds of Afghan Taliban fighters during recent operations. Afghan authorities, however, dispute those numbers and claim Pakistani forces have suffered heavy losses.Pakistan’s leadership has also accused the Taliban administration of allowing militant groups to operate from Afghan territory.Officials in Islamabad say these groups, particularly the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, have carried out repeated attacks inside Pakistan targeting security forces and civilians.

Pakistan says Taliban crossed a ‘red line’

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari accused Afghanistan’s Taliban administration of crossing a ‘red line’ by deploying drones that injured several civilians inside Pakistan last week.Islamabad says these attacks prompted further military operations targeting militant infrastructure across the border.Afghanistan’s Taliban government has repeatedly denied the allegations and maintains that it does not allow any group to use Afghan territory to launch attacks against other countries.

Pakistan rejects Taliban claims as ‘misreporting of facts’

Pakistan’s information ministry also dismissed claims that a drug rehabilitation hospital had been targeted.“The claim of this discredited so-called spokesperson of the Taliban regime is another misreporting of facts aimed at misleading public opinion,” the ministry said in a post on X.It added: “On the night of March 16, Pakistan precisely targeted military installations and terrorist support infrastructure, including technical equipment storage and ammunition storage of Afghan Taliban and Fitna al Khawarij in Kabul and Nangarhar that were being used against innocent Pakistani civilians. Post-strike detonation of stored ammunition being used by the master terror proxy also fully contradicts the fake claim.“Pakistan’s targeting is precise and carefully undertaken to ensure no collateral damage is inflicted. This misreporting of facts seeks to stir sentiments, covering illegitimate support to cross-border terrorism. The statement is rejected as being false and misleading.”

Pakistan denies rejecting China’s mediation offer

Pakistan’s foreign office also dismissed reports that it had declined China’s mediation efforts aimed at easing tensions with Afghanistan.Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said such claims were baseless.“Pakistan and China remain trusted partners and close friends, and both maintain regular and close communication on all issues of mutual concern and shared interest.“Therefore, any unnecessary speculation or fabrication of facts in this regard is unwarranted,” he said.China urges both sides to return to negotiationsChina has called on both countries to avoid further escalation and resume dialogue.Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said preventing the conflict from widening was the most urgent priority.“The most urgent task is to avoid the expansion of the war and return the two countries to the negotiating table as soon as possible,” he said.“China is willing to continue to make efforts to achieve reconciliation and ease relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan,” he added.

Security concerns rise across the region

The escalating conflict has raised concerns internationally as the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region has historically been a hub for militant activity. The United Nations Security Council recently called on Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities to intensify efforts to combat terrorism and condemned terrorist activity across the region. The council also extended the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan for three months as tensions between the two countries continue to rise.International Human Rights Foundation also condemned the strike. In a statement issued, the organisation called for an ‘independent investigation’ into the incident. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, at least two people were abducted and later killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, according to Dawn.

MI head coach drops major update on Rohit Sharma’s participation in IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene, in his recent speech, declared that Rohit Sharma, who was used mostly as an impact player last season, might be seen a bit more on the field this time around.

India’s most veteran T20I batter, Rohit Sharma, no longer plays in that blue jersey with the tricolor on it; however, he still represents his IPL franchise, the Mumbai Indians. Rohit was one of MI’s highest run-getters last season and helped them advance to the second Qualifier.

However, Rohit was mainly seen as an Impact player in the last season. The Mumbai Indians bought Rohit in the batting innings to open alongside Ryan Rickelton. The Indian veteran was seen mainly off the ground, as Hardik Pandya has been captaining the side for the last two seasons.

I want to keep him on the field as much as I can- Mahela Jayawardene said of Rohit Sharma’s role in 2026

MI fans did not take Hardik Pandya’s appointment as the captain of the side, replacing Rohit Sharma, in a very good manner. The Wankhede crowd booed their own team’s skipper on several occasions after Hardik moved back to MI in 2024.

However, Pandya kept his cool and showed some stunning resilience as a cricketer and led MI to the Qualifiers in his second season as captain. This marked the Mumbai Indians’ first-ever playoff qualification after 2020.

In a chat show with MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene, he was asked if Rohit Sharma, the former MI skipper, would be seen in the playing XI this time around rather than being brought in only as an Impact player.

The head coach jokingly remarked, “But he is still playing.”

He then continued, “I think definitely, the way we managed him last season, he had a few fitness concerns as well, and we needed to manage that. The thing is, he is still making a huge impact on the team, whether he is on the field or not. But this year, definitely, I want to keep him on the field as much as I can.”

Most of our guys are all-rounders, and the captains need that option – Mahela Jayawardene

The MI head coach also pointed out that most of their players are cricketers who play as all-rounders and have a role to play with the ball as well. The captain needed his options during that innings, and it was Rohit Sharma who volunteered to be used as an Impact player under such circumstances.

“But we are rotating that impact player based on the fact that the other players need to be on the field all the time. Because if you look at that, most of our players are all-rounders who do bowl, and the captain needs those options on the field, something that I have to look at and discuss.

“Now Tilak is bowling as well, so he put his hand up, and I cannot take him out. Now, the two guys who are not bowling are Rohit and Surya. Are you okay with Surya missing out on the XI and coming in as an Impact player?” The coach turned the tide towards the fans.

However, he assured that he would look to do the best, and the rest is to see what actually happens in the season.

MI’s possible Playing 12 for IPL 2026

The Mumbai Indians probably have the finest pack of Indian superstars of any other team in the IPL. They have Rohit Sharma leading the pack, alongside skipper Hardik Pandya. The Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, the ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, and the youngster Tilak Varma are all in the same squad.

However, now they have too many overseas stars who clash in their roles. They have two of South Africa’s in-form wicket-keeper batters in Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton. They also picked Sherfane Rutherford, another in-form batter from the West Indies to strengthen their lower-order batting.

The steps of Parliament are not a venue for spectacle or political theatre,” they said in an open letter endorsed by 204 signatories. They alleged that Rahul’s action within the Parliament complex amounted to a deliberate defiance of the chair and showed disregard for parliamentary authority. “It shows an attitude of arrogance and entitlement,” they added. They said Speaker Om Birla had issued an explicit instruction against demonstrations or protests within Parliament premises but the opposition, led by Rahul, disregarded the directive.“Rahul must apologise to the nation for this behaviour and introspect the attitude that produced it, so that the solemnity, authority and institutional sanctity of the Parliament remain preserved,” they said.
